QSKing User Guide
Everything you need to extract quantities, author a BQ, and manage design changes — from your first Run QTO to your first Export BQ.
Getting started
Install and run your first QTO
From download to your first extracted quantities in under 10 minutes.
Part I
Chapter 1
Installation and Setup
Install the QSKing plugin, activate your licence, and verify the ribbon appears in Revit.
- System requirements
- Download and install
- Licence activation
- Ribbon overview
Part I
Chapter 2
Your First Run QTO
Configure extraction options and run QTO on a Revit model for the first time.
- Opening the Run QTO dialog
- Selecting categories
- Reading the QTO Schedule
- Filtering and sorting results
Part I
Chapter 3
The QSKing Workflow
Understand the four-stage workflow from extraction to exported BQ.
- Run QTO → Link → Author → Export
- AIQS SMM and the extraction
- What is and isn’t modelled
- When to use override commands
Extraction
Measuring every trade category
How QSKing extracts each category and applies AIQS SMM measurement rules.
Part II
Chapter 4
Substructure
Excavation staging, pad footings, strip footings, blinding, and rebar.
- Set Excavation RL command
- Excavation depth staging (E1–E5)
- Concrete foundations
- Formwork to foundations
- Rebar extraction and scheduling
Part III
Chapter 5
Superstructure
Columns, beams, slabs, stairs, formwork classification, and structural steel.
- Concrete volumes and join geometry
- Formwork — sides, soffit, AS3610
- Stair flights and landings
- Structural steel by section
Part IV
Chapter 6
Envelope and Finishes
Walls, openings adjustment, doors, windows, external finishes, and painting.
- Set External Wall command
- Auto openings adjustment (0.5 m²)
- Set External Finish command
- Set Paint command
- Floor, wall and ceiling finishes
BQ Authoring
Workbook, linking and export
Author the bill of quantities, link to QTO rows, and export to Excel.
Part VI
Chapter 7
The Workbook
Navigate Level 0, Level 1, and Level 2. Add, insert, move, and delete rows.
- Level 0 — trade sections
- Level 1 — measurement items
- Level 2 — take-off detail
- Formatting descriptions
Part VI
Chapter 8
Linking and Export
Link QTO Schedule rows to Workbook items and export the completed BQ.
- The link dialog
- Multiple rows to one item
- Rates, factors, and totals
- Export BQ to Excel
Part VI
Chapter 9
Design Changes
Re-run QTO, review the delta, resolve orphan warnings, and re-export.
- Re-run QTO — what changes
- New, modified and deleted elements
- Orphan warnings and re-linking
- Revision workflow

QSKing QTO and Linked Models — Estimate as Design Changes
Full workflow demonstration — Run QTO, Workbook authoring, and revision tracking in a live Revit model.
Standard Method of Measurement Workflow
How QSKing applies AIQS SMM rules automatically — excavation staging, formwork classification, and openings adjustment.
Excavation — Commencing Level and Staging
Set Excavation RL command, depth staging in successive 1 m bands, and blinding calculation.
Concrete Pad Footing and Formwork
Auto-calculation of formwork to sides of pad footings — F3 finish class, height classification.
SMM reference
AIQS measurement rules applied by QSKing
Key rules from the AIQS Standard Method of Measurement and how QSKing applies them.
AIQS SMM · Excavation E1–E5
Excavation staging
Measured in m³ in successive 1 m depth bands from commencing level. QSKing reads the RL set by the QS and stages volume automatically.
AIQS SMM · Formwork F1–F12
AS3610 finish classification
Formwork calculated from concrete element geometry. Classified F1–F5 per AS3610. Sides and soffit measured separately.
AIQS SMM · Walls W1
Auto openings adjustment
Wall areas net of openings exceeding 0.5 m². Openings ≤ 0.5 m² not deducted and not measured separately.
AIQS SMM · Reinforcement R1
Rebar by diameter and weight
Measured in tonnes. Classified by bar type and diameter. Weight calculated from bar length using nominal mass per metre.
AIQS SMM · Painting P1–P8
Set Paint workflow
QS assigns paint specification element by element. Painted area extracted from Revit face geometry. Internal and external measured separately.
AIQS SMM · Stairs S1–S4
Stair flights and landings
Flights measured in m³ including steps. Landings measured separately. Formwork to sloping soffit measured separately from risers.
