Excavation

Problem:

1. Excavation is not modelled. SMM requires excavation in successive stage of 1m deep.

Solution: Input Excation Start Level (Commencing Level).

Concrete Pad footing and Formwork

Problem:

1. Formwork is not modelled. SMM requires formwork to sides of footing.

Solution: Run QTO

Concrete Columns, Beam and Formwork

Problem:

1. Formwork to columns and beams are not being modelled. SMM requires formwork to sides of columns and sides and soffit of beams.

Solution: Run QTO

Concrete Slab & Beam and Formwork

Problem:

1. Concrete slab volume overlaps with beam, incorrect concrete volume to beam.

2. Formwork is not modelled. SMM requires formwork to soffit of beam and sides and soffit of beam

Solution: Use join geometry.

Auto Openings Adjustment

Problem:

1. Onscreen 2D/3D pdf (read only file) QTO software could not perform auto openings adjustment. Updating is time consuming.

Solution: Run QTO (Revit has auto openings adjustment function).

Concrete Stairs & Rebar

Problem:

1. Concrete stairs includes landing slab. SMM requires landing slab measured separately.

2. Formwork is not modelled. SMM requires formwork to soffit of sloping soffit of stairs, soffit of landing beam, sides of stringer beam and undercut riser.

Solution: Run QTO

BQ Editing, Pricing and Export to Excel

Problem:

1. Revit Schedule of Quantities take-off function is not extracted in accordance with SMM. It is therefore not ready for BQ pricing.

2. Revit does not have BQ printing function.

Solution: Price and export Workbook to Excel format in Trade bills, Elememtal bills and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) format.

Problems:

1. Onscreen 2D/3D QTO software could extract but not instant update BQ quantities and costing.
